Okay, as far as this quest goes, rather easy, got my 3 rods off the first 3 bonewarders I killed. As far as the rest of the post, lets have bliz take a look at an outline of just all the traveling involved with getting a felhunter on ally.Tackling the medicine men wasnt too difficult for a warlock: cast Curse of Tongues on them immediately so it takes twice as long for them to heal themselves (or at least it seemed that way) and, when theyre low on health and attempt to heal, finish them off with shadowburn.Location of Witherbark Felhunter within Classic World Of Warcraft. The NPC panel has been upgraded to allow some specific filtering, you can First you get the quest at your warlock trainer. Summon Felhunter is a core warlock ability learned at level 29. It allows warlocks to summon a Felhunter minion that remains under their control until dismissed or killed. Felhunters are excellent against casters, as they can remove magic effects, heal via magic, and block casting.(Yes, Krom.)Out of these two items he'll craft the tome, and tells you to go fetch 3 Rod of Channeling,Dropped by Dragonmaw Bonewarders and Dragonmaw Shadowwarders in Wetlands. You have to bring these items back to Strahad Farsan in Ratchet, where you'll summon a Felhunter, and kill it. After you've done áll that you get to summon your very own. (It's almost 5 in the morning.) This is absolutely one of the most annoying quests I've ever done.
The drop rate is about 55%, I got it on my second kill because I am an unlucky person. It is stated that you need an Infernal Orb, but you don't get the orb from and Infernal you get it from the warlocks, Burning Blade Summoner's ( ). Comment by ReekuDo not be mislead by this quest, and read it carefully. (The Barrens.)- After doing that this guy tells you to go talk to Krom Stoutarm in Ironforge.- Krom'll ask you for 2 items, a Moldy Tome, found in Hillsbrad Foothills,And a Tattered Manuscript, found in Thousand Needles.( I put my Hearthstone in IF during this part, it saved me some walking. To do that you have to head to Dustwallow Marsh to find Tabetha ( ), ** Remember her location, she is used for future quests**. Otherwise, the route of the Infernal gives you a Fire damage Staff, or a Fire damage Orb.But first, you need to cleanse the orb, and you don't want to turn anything in before hand because you will fail the quest forever (unless they fixed that finally). They give you two options either "Shard of a Felhound" ( ) or "Shard of an Infernal" ( ).If you go the route of the Felhound you get to choose from a Shadow damage staff, or a Shadow damage Orb. So, after obtaining the felhound soul shard and the infernal orb, I returned to Ratchet and gave Menara the ruby and the felhound soul shard BEFORE taking the infernal orb to Tabetha to be cleansed. So, by the time I obtained the infused ruby thingy and the infernal orb, I had forgotten the part about Tabetha cleansing the orb and Menara's "warning" not to return until I completed BOTH tasks. Period!I only read the quest from Menara ONCE when I first accepted it. There's NO way to "break" this quest line (aside from accidentally destroying the ruby/emerald once it's infused). That means levelling faster, and less spells cast (therefore the int is less important. If you have spell power increase buffs, things die faster. If you are worried about the loss of int, but a +int enchant. On top of that, our shadow bolt takes a while to churn through all your mana in the first place). The staves from this quest are far better than illusionary rod for us, because it adds dmg to our dots and spells. Returned to Menara, turned in the cleansed orb and got the staff - WOOT! Moral of the story? It doesn't matter if you turn in the felhound/infernal soul shard BEFORE or AFTER you have the infernal orb cleansed! End of story.Comment by ThottbotFFS, why do people not realise that +dmg is so vitally important for warlocks? Warlocks do not need the mana and health pool that mages and priests need (dont get me wrong, its hugely important, but for those of us affliction specced we get an instant full mana regen, and for those that dont there is still good old life tap. Well, went to Tabetha and cleansed the orb today. This is my first character (level 38 Undead Warlock) and I solo everything and so don't consider myself very knowledgeable on strategy etc as I never talk to anyone about what to do, but do read these boards. For those without the money to buy an epic, do bother, because you will use this until you get soul harvester at lvl 50.Comment by AllakhazamI think this quest is way over-hyped for difficulty. Plus for those who dont like travelling, we have to go to these places eventually anyway, may as well make it now while they are exciting for your level. If you can get a staff of jordan dont bother with this quest its not worth it. Thick as thieves 1998 soundtrackHe virtually melted-very easy. As I approached, expecting to have to kill other stuff to get to him, he came my way and I hit him with my VW, DOTs, Immolate and a couple of shadow bolts. Spotted a Burning Blade Summoner walking around at the far southern end of Monroc on the Western side of the road on the ruins and used the rocks just to the south to get close. Obtaining the Orb was almost too easy. I checked the auction house and maxed out on armor and related strengths for my level. I had a ton of gold because up to now I have been using quest rewards and looted armor to equip myself. Play chessbaseWhen she began summoning the Monster summoned by the orb. I expected more difficulty in the fight. Worst part was getting hit my two crocks at once crossing swamp to her house. I had to kill two because the first one actually died before I could nail him with the shard. The Tabetha portion was mostly about getting there. The lesser infernals go down easy. I think if you are prepared this guy should go down just as easy for you.Comment by Allakhazamfragments of the orahil orb + the sub-quest: Shard of a Felhound (Walkthrough)1. He died while I still had a fair amount of health and manna. He kept at my VW the whole time and when the VW was almost dead, I shielded immolated and shadow bolted. I hit him with DOTs (COA and Corruption) and nailed him with immolate, kept the DOTs running and actually stood back and watched for a few secs while my manna rebuilt. Return the Cleansed Orb, then return the ruby and imprisoned shard completing those 2 quests. Get back to Menara in Ratchet. Go back in the hut and get the Cleansed Orb from Tabetha.7. You can also complete a ton of quests out of Mudsprocket.3. You can then fly from Dustwallow Marsh back to Ratchet instead of having to run or ride. There is a flight path there for both Alliance and Horde. After you complete the Orb quest, Tabetha will give you another Quest to Mudsprocket a short distance from her hut. You will find it at the end of the short pier.ALLIANCE: Your flight path is at Nigel's Point near the road that leads to Stonetalon Mountains in North Desolace.2. HORDE: Since you have to go to Desolace anyway, if you do not already have the flight path you can make the short trot over to Shadowprey Village and get it. You have to remember, it is in 2 halves. Which i definitly had some of while trying to do this. Beware of the spiders and flying reptile things.Hopefully this has helped someone to get some added bonuses on this quest because the reward isn't that hot but the quest XP is worth it.Comment by Allakhazamto get rid of any confusion. You can pick up some great XP by killing the Theramore Deserters you will find there. I didn't realize this so i had to make a second trip. So i used the ruby to grab a soul - hand this in with the ruby to do teh first part of the quest) since your already in desolace you must ALSO kill one of the burning blade summoners to get the infernal orb. You complete this seperatly.(i did fel. Grab a soul from one of them AND kill a burning blade summoner- take he orb you get from the summoner to Tabatha - kill the demonI just did this a few minutes ago at 36 and i kicked his ass.
